About the Bible Study Center

The Bible Study Center is a non-profit teaching work that began in 1985. Our goal is to help people study the Bible carefully, in context, so they can read, think, and decide for themselves what it says.

No. We do not ask anyone to join a church or religious group. Our purpose is to help you read and understand the Bible itself. You are free to compare what you learn with your own background and beliefs.

4. Who is this online school for?

BSC Online is for adults and older students from many different backgrounds who want to think carefully about important questions of life, faith, and the Bible. Some students already have years of Bible experience; others may have little or none. Our placement process helps select an appropriate starting course, so you do not need a Bible background to begin.

Enrollment & Getting Started

1. How do I enroll in the BSC Online School?

To enroll, fill out our online enrollment form. Choose your language and provide the basic information requested. An email address is not required.

Next, you will answer a few placement questions about your experience and background. Your answers help BSC Online select the best starting course for you. When enrollment and placement are complete, the system will create your personal Student ID (SID) and PIN. Please save your SID and PIN in a safe place because you will use them to sign in to the school.

2. Can I enroll if I live outside Cebu or outside the Philippines?

Yes. Because the lessons are online, you can study from almost anywhere in the world. As long as you have internet access and a phone, tablet, or computer with a web browser, you can enroll and study.

3. What happens after I submit the enrollment form?

After the enrollment form, you will complete a few placement questions. BSC Online will then create your student record, assign your starting course, and give you your personal Student ID (SID) and PIN. Save these credentials. You can then go directly to the BSC Online login page, sign in with your SID and PIN, and begin your assigned course.

4. What course will I study first?

Your starting course depends upon how you answer the placement questions. Answer them truthfully so the system can select the best starting course for you. As you complete courses, additional courses can become available. Each lesson includes questions to help you think about what you have studied, and you must score at least 70% on a lesson to open the next lesson. (If you have difficulties, we will help you.)

2. How long does each lesson take?

Lesson length varies. Some lessons are shorter, while others contain more reading, reflection, or a worksheet. There is no time limit, so take the time you need to read carefully and think about the material. You do not have to rush through a lesson in one sitting.

There are quiz questions at the end of each lesson. These quizzes are there to help you think about what you learned. You must score at least 70% on a lesson quiz before you can proceed to the next lesson.

3. Can I stop studying a lesson and then come back to it later?

Yes. You can stop anytime in the middle of a lesson and return later. Sign in again with your Student ID (SID) and PIN. The system will remember your progress so you can continue your study.

4. What if I forget or lose my SID or PIN?

Your Student ID (SID) and PIN are your personal sign-in credentials, so keep them in a safe place and do not post them publicly. If you lose them or cannot sign in, contact BSC for assistance. We may need to confirm enough information to identify the correct student record before helping you regain access.

5. What if I make a mistake or answer incorrectly?

That is okay. This is a learning course. If you score less than 70%, you will be able to see the questions you missed. Take note of those questions and read through the lesson again. Once you are ready, you can take the quiz again. If you do not pass a lesson after three (3) tries, that lesson will be locked temporarily and BSC staff will be notified. You can use the Ask for Assistance option to contact us through BSC Online. We can help you understand the material and, when appropriate, unlock the lesson so you can try again. The goal is to help you learn. The questions are there to help you think carefully about the lesson material.
